‘Dangerously Stupid’ Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Milk Boast Gets Udderly Slammed Online

Date:

Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) received a lengthy fact check on X, formerly Twitter, after she promoted the consumption of raw milk, something the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns on its website can cause severe illness and potentially even kill someone.

“Raw Milk does a body good,” the conspiracy theory-peddling Donald Trump acolyte posted alongside a photograph of what appeared to be raw milk in a jar in what is the latest instance of milk becoming entangled in the culture wars.

“Make America Healthy Again!” Greene added, a wellness-themed tweak to the former president and current GOP nominee’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan.

A mammoth community note was added to the post.

It stated, “Raw milk consumption is linked to a number of foodborne illnesses that can result in serious complications and death.”

It contained multiple links to credible organizations featuring warnings against drinking raw milk.

One of the links pointed to the CDC’s raw milk page.

It warns, “Consuming raw milk can lead to serious health risks, especially for certain vulnerable populations,” and that “drinking or eating products made from raw milk can expose people to germs such as Campylobacter, Cryptosporidium, E. coli, Listeria, Brucella, and Salmonella,” can cause “diarrhea, stomach cramping, and vomiting” and “more severe outcomes like Guillain-Barré syndrome or hemolytic uremic syndrome can occur, potentially leading to paralysis, kidney failure, stroke, or even death.”

Critics slammed Greene as “stupid” for the post:
