Des Moines airport to temporarily close entrance during peak travel hours. Here’s when

Date:

Des Moines International Airport will temporarily close its main entrance Tuesday and early Wednesday because of construction on Fleur Drive, rerouting traffic to Leland Avenue south of the terminal.

The entrance will be closed from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., meaning there could be delays for people traveling to or from the airport during the peak flight hours of 10 p.m. to midnight.

“We strongly encourage passengers traveling to and from the airport during these hours to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journey and remain patient as the city works to improve the infrastructure around our airport,” the airport said in a news release.

The Leland Avenue detour is located less than a quarter mile from the main entrance, and signs will guide drivers to Duck Pond Road and from there to Terminal Way, the airport said.
