DraftKings officially launched its sports betting app in Washington D.C. on Thursday, the company announced. The operator has a market access partnership with D.C. United.
With DraftKings’ arrival in Washington D.C.’s sports betting market, the District is now home to four well-known sports betting operators. BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and FanDuel also operate across Washington D.C.
Changing Market
Prior to this summer, only FanDuel held mobile sports betting access across the District. FanDuel took over for GambetDC as the primary sports betting app in Washington D.C. in the spring. Sports wagering language included in the FY 2025 budget paved the way for a more competitive online sports betting marketplace, giving bettors options to multiple betting platforms.
“Thank you again to the entire D.C. Council for their support in expanding mobile sports betting in the nation’s capital, and to D.C. United for their collaborative efforts to further elevate fan engagement,” DraftKings said in a statement.
Fanatics Sportsbook has signaled interest in entering the District, however a timeline for Fanatics’ potential entrance has yet to be shared.
