America PAC, a super PAC aligned with former president Donald Trump, reported on Monday that it received donations ranging from $500,000 to $1 million from prominent tech titans, including associates of Elon Musk.
Among the donors are former Tesla board member Antonio Gracias, Palantir co-founder and Austin-based tech investor Joe Lonsdale and Sequoia Capital investor Shaun Maguire.
Lonsdale and Doug Leone, a partner at Sequoia, each contributed $1 million, as did Gracias, while Maguire gave $500,000 to the effort. The Austin-based super PAC was formed in May and the report covers donations through June 30.
Musk also plans to give money to the group, said a person familiar with the organization, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive matters. Bloomberg reported on Friday that Musk had already donated to the group. His name was not included in Monday’s filing, but he could have donated more recently.
The donations boosted Trump’s campaign coffers at a time when his fundraising had lagged President Biden’s.
Neither Musk nor America PAC immediately responded to requests for comment.
The rest of the donors include Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who pivoted to cryptocurrency in recent years. Together they gave half a million dollars.
In all, America PAC disclosed that it had raised more than $8.5 million.
Musk endorsed Trump on his social media platform X on Saturday, following the attempt on the former president’s life at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Several of the donors attended a recent $50,000-a-head fundraiser at the San Francisco home of investor and podcast host David Sacks, a friend of Musk’s. On Monday evening at the Republican National Convention, Sacks said, “In my hometown of San Francisco, Democrat rule has turned the streets of our beautiful city into a cesspool of crime, homeless encampments and open drug use.”
