Elon Musk’s Starship Can Fly you Anywhere in the World under an Hour

Date:

FLORIDA- SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, is advancing plans to revolutionize global travel, aiming to transport passengers between major cities in under an hour using its Starship rocket.

This 395-foot stainless steel spacecraft, capable of speeds up to 27,000 km/h, drastically outpaces the fastest commercial airliners, which peak at around 1,000 km/h.

Starship: Fly you Anywhere Under An Hour

Twitter user @ajtourville speculated that under former President Donald Trump’s administration, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) might have approved SpaceX’s ambitious “Earth to Earth” travel plans within a few years. Musk confirmed the feasibility, replying, “This is now possible.”

Billionaire Musk, poised to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Vivek Ramaswamy, reiterated that the project gained traction following Trump’s re-election.

Originally conceived nearly a decade ago, the plan envisions Starship accommodating up to 1,000 passengers, blasting into orbit, and traveling parallel to Earth’s surface to reach its destination city.

According to the Daily Mail, passengers would experience intense G-forces during liftoff and landing, alongside low-gravity conditions mid-flight, requiring seatbelts to remain fastened throughout the journey.

While the concept holds transformative potential, significant regulatory and safety hurdles remain as SpaceX progresses toward realizing this groundbreaking vision.

Elon Musk has reaffirmed SpaceX’s ambition to revolutionize global travel using its Starship rocket, offering travel times under an hour between cities worldwide.

Musk, in a 2019 tweet, described Starship as an “ICBM traveling at Mach 25,” with a maximum flight duration of 15 to 20 minutes, eliminating the need for traditional aircraft amenities like toilets, food galleys, or a pilot area.

Musk emphasized safety during flights, stating passengers likely would remain restrained, comparing the experience to Disney’s Space Mountain roller coaster. “You’d exit on another continent,” he added, highlighting the rocket’s unprecedented speed and efficiency.

Proposed Starship Flight Durations

  • London to New York: 29 minutes
  • New York to Paris: 30 minutes
  • Honolulu to Tokyo: 30 minutes
  • Tokyo to Delhi: 30 minutes
  • Sydney to Singapore: 31 minutes
  • Los Angeles to London: 32 minutes
  • London to Hong Kong: 34 minutes
  • London to Cape Town: 34 minutes
  • Sydney to Delhi: 36 minutes
  • San Francisco to Delhi: 40 minutes
  • New York to Sydney: 49 minutes

If we take the example of the San Francisco to Delhi flight, Air India (AI) takes around 15 hours to complete this journey. But 40 minutes is unbelievable and reduces time by 95% or we can say it’s 22 times faster than the current fastest travel tech.
