Could Thomas Tuchel be the next England coach? According to WELT, via BILD, the FA are already in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the former Bayern Munich head coach, and an agreement could be reached quickly.
This comes following England’s shock 2-1 defeat to Greece in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday night under interim manager Lee Carsley. The U21 manager and former Everton midfielder took charge following the departure of Gareth Southgate post Euro 2024 but despite winning his first two games against Ireland and Finland, the defeat to Greece, and his team selection, has brought questions about his ability to succeed Southgate.
Tuchel is without a club following his departure from Bayern Munich at the end of last season after a trophyless campaign, but the German is also being discussed as a potential successor to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
The 51-year-old has already had success in England, winning the 2021 Champions League at Chelsea, and has won league titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
