Ex Inter Milan Coach Argues Italy Star ‘Makes The Difference’ & ‘Should Start For Inter’

Date:

Former Inter Milan coach Marco Tardell feels that Davide Frattesi “makes the difference” and deserves the trust of Simone Inzaghi.

Tardelli praised Frattesi in an interview published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Frattesi’s rather unique situation has come under the spotlight in recent days.

This has been the result of the 24-year-old’s outstanding performances for Italy during the international break.

Frattesi has started in both of the Azzurri’s two Nations League matches during the break. Moreover, he has gotten on the scoresheet in both of them.

This has made one thing clearer than ever – Frattesi is a key player in Italy’s starting eleven.

For his club Inter, on the other hand, Frattesi still does not start every match.

In fact, the former Sassuolo midfielder has still made just five starts in Serie A for the Nerazzurri since joining. All came last season, as he has yet to make a start this campaign.

Tardelli: “Davide Frattesi Makes The Difference, He Deserves The Trust Of Inzaghi”

“Frattesi deserves to be trusted at Inter,” since Tardelli.

“There are very few players like him,” the former coach and legendary former midfielder said of Frattesi.

“Inzaghi has several top players, and the three players he goes with in midfield are virtually a certainty: Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan.”

Tradelli argued that “I can’t tell Simone who to play or not to play, obviously.”

“But what Frattesi is doing with the national team is now there for all to say.”

The former midfielder argued that “He makes the difference. He must be trusted.”

As far as areas where Frattesi can still improve, Tardelli said “In managing the ball. And concentration.”

“The midfielder is a barrier,” the former Italy international said. “A filter through which everything passes.”

“But having someone like him gives the coach the opportunity to have more choices. And Inzaghi knows that.”

And asked where he sees Frattesi being in three years, Tardelli said “As a starter.”

“Above all, with Italy, along with Barella.”

The former Inter coach predicted that “The big foreign clubs will knock on their doors because they’re two top players.”

“But we must not let them slip through our fingers,” said Tardelli of Frattesi.
