With this news, Kane is expected to miss a significant chunk of this upcoming season. This is certainly tough news for the veteran winger, but he must now focus on his recovery.

Kane played through a sports hernia for much of last season but played most of the year. In 77 regular-season games for the Edmonton Oilers in 2023-24, he had 24 goals and 44 points. He also had four goals and eight points in 20 playoff games. He did, however, miss five out of the Oilers’ seven Stanley Cup Final games against the Florida Panthers.

In 196 games as a Sabre, Kane had 68 goals, 50 assists, 118 points, and 400 hits. His time with the Sabres ended when he was traded to the San Jose Sharks during the 2017-18 season.
