Football Insider reported Friday that Liverpool are the latest club keen on Palmeiras youngster Vitor Reis. However, new information reveals the stance the Reds are taking on signing a central defender.
The report also mentions that the young player is eager to move to Europe to compete in the Champions League, but Palmeiras are set on keeping him for now.
According to ESPN Brazil, Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG are also interested in the promising defender.
With his contract running until December 2028 and a €100 million release clause, it’s unlikely any club will rush to make an offer. Instead, top teams are more likely to spend this season carefully evaluating the young Brazilian.
In his latest Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Reis. This new information should delight Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG as it means one less competitor for the Brazilian.
“Despite rumours linking centre-backs to Liverpool, I can say that I have nothing to tell you guys about this,” Romano wrote.
“I’d not be surprised if Liverpool decided to sign a new central defender during the 2025 summer transfer window but as of right now, there is nothing concrete regarding names. Liverpool are not in direct contact with any centre-backs.”
