Fleeing from the tan and black cruisers everyone knows is Florida Highway Patrol isn’t exactly a smart idea. But this suspect who thinks she can take troopers for a high-speed ride almost pays the almost price, narrowly missing becoming a pancake for all her effort.
Watch Florida troopers make short work of a large street takeover.
Troopers had been advised that the suspect in her Ford Explorer was in the area, having fled from Lee County deputies. She had an active warrant, or so it says in the FHP report, so this woman seemed intent on getting away instead of pulling over and playing nice.
Once troopers caught up to the suspect as she was traveling over 110 mph, passing on the shoulder, and in general driving recklessly, one got on his loudspeaker and warned that she was going to be pitted out if she didn’t pull over.
Rather than realizing that was a good time to comply, the suspect kept fleeing. Perhaps she thought her grocery getter could smoke FHP’s cruisers or some other ridiculous thing.
Like so many other suspects we’ve seen run from police, this woman seems to overestimate her driving skills as well as the performance capabilities of her vehicle. As she encounters a moment where semi-trucks are occupying the center and right lanes, plus a pickup pulling a horse trailer is in the left lane, she makes a tremendously stupid move.
She shoots the narrow gap between the pickup and the semi in the center lane at high speed. But she veers too far to the left, then overcorrects and shoots off to the right, in front of both semis, slamming into the retaining wall before coming back across the lanes of travel.
Lucky for her, the trucker in the left lane is on the brakes instantly and avoids slamming into her Explorer. She narrowly misses hitting the horse trailer as that driver moves onto the shoulder, otherwise that would’ve been a mess.
Does she even realize she just about became a pancake? We really wonder.
