The Philadelphia Flyers are in the middle of a rebuild, and the expectation is that they will be sellers at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. Due to this, several of their players have created chatter in the rumor mill, one of whom is forward Scott Laughton.

Laughton, 30, is no stranger to trade speculation. He generated plenty of interest leading up to last season’s deadline, and this should only continue to be the case this year because of how well he is playing.
Laughton is precisely the kind of player contenders love to have. He provides solid secondary scoring, kills penalties, and plays a very heavy game. In addition, he is a good leader, which is why he is an alternate captain for the Flyers.
Laughton is also having a strong season with the Flyers, posting eight goals, 21 points, and 83 hits in 37 games. He has also been red-hot lately, posting five points over his last three games. He also has five goals and 11 points in his previous eight contests.
Laughton should also generate a lot of interest because he has a reasonable $3 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season. Thus, he would be more than a rental if acquired by another club.
It will be interesting to see what the Flyers decide to do with Laughton, but he should be a very hot commodity around the NHL.
