Former Real Madrid icon names two Barcelona players he would sign for the club

Fernando Morientes, a former forward for Real Madrid who celebrated three UEFA Champions League titles during his time with the club, recently attended the launch event for EA Sports FC 25.

In a conversation with AS, he shared his thoughts on various topics concerning Los Blancos and the current football scene.

When asked which players he would consider signing for Real Madrid from their city rivals, Atletico Madrid, Morientes mentioned a few names that caught his attention.

He highlighted Conor Gallagher, Antoine Griezmann, and Marcos Llorente as potential additions that could strengthen Real Madrid’s lineup. Each of these players brings unique qualities to the field, and Morientes believes they could fit well into the team’s structure.

“To them, Gallagher, Griezmann and Marcos Llorente,” he began saying.

It must be noted that in his debut season with Atletico, Gallagher has made an instant impact, scoring two goals in six matches. On the other hand, Griezmann has scored three and has assisted four in eight matches.

Anyone from Barcelona?

Moving on to Barcelona, Morientes had a lighter moment when he was asked if there were any players he would want to sign from the rival club.

With a chuckle, he responded that he wouldn’t pick anyone, but then acknowledged two players: Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

He noted that Raphinha has started the season on a positive note, showcasing his skills and impact on the game. Morientes also described Yamal as a remarkable talent with great potential, suggesting that he could become one of the standout players in the near future.

While he hesitated to place Yamal in the absolute top tier of players, he confidently stated that he would certainly rank him among the top five.

“[I would take] No one (laughs). Seriously, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, who has started very well.

“Lamine is a great player. Right now he could be one of the greats. I don’t dare to go top-3, but I would go top-5,” he explained.
