Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has made it official: He’s in the 2025 NFL draft.
Beck was once viewed as a potential first overall pick, but that is no longer the case. He did not play as well in 2024 as he had in 2022 and 2023, and he suffered a serious injury to his throwing arm in the last game of his college career, the SEC Championship Game.
That injury, a torn right ulnar collateral ligament, will keep him out of the College Football Playoff, and it may scare some NFL teams away. It’s a potentially very serious injury, although 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy suffered the same injury in the NFC Championship Game in January of 2023 and was back on the field for the regular-season opener less than eight months later.
Because of the injury and the disappointing final season — but also because of his stellar play in 2022 and 2023 — Beck will be one of the 2025 NFL draft’s biggest question marks.
