Giants’ Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns off injury report; OT Jermaine Eluemunor questionable

Date:

Here are the latest Giants injury updates as they prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers…

Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns good to go for Monday night

Giants fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as star defensive players Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns are off the injury report and will play on Monday night against the Steelers.

Lawrence did not practice on Thursday due to a hip injury, but was limited in participation on Friday and Saturday. The DT is leading the NFL with nine sacks through seven games.

Burns (groin/Achilles) was limited on Thursday and did not practice Friday, but return to the field on Saturday in limited fashion. He’s recorded four sacks over seven games, including three straight games with a sack, in his first season in New York.

OT Jermaine Eluemunor questionable

Eluemunor did not practice Friday or Saturday due to a hip injury and is listed as questionable for Monday’s game.

New York has already lost LT Andrew Thomas to a season-ending injury, and can’t afford to have Eluemunor miss time. Joshua Ezeudu started in place of Thomas against the Eagles, but struggled, and the team was reportedly considering its options ahead of their matchup with the Steelers and DPOY-candidate T.J. Watt.

That change could mean moving Eluemunor to the left side, but it’s a tough decision, as Watt lines up in front of his usual position at right tackle. Ezeudu is currently listed as the starting LT and Eluemunor the starting RT.

Veteran tackle D.J. Humphries visited with the Giants on Tuesday, but the team did not sign him. It’s still possible New York could add Humphries for depth this season.

Punter Jamie Gillan, CB Adoree’ Jackson remain out

Gillan will miss his third straight game with a hamstring injury after not practicing all week. Veteran Matt Haack has punted for New York the past two games, averaging 46.9 yards per punt.

Jackson (neck) will miss his second straight game after not practicing during the week either. The veteran played the first fives games of the season, but hasn’t made much of an impact, recording just five tackles and one pass defended.

Additionally, LB Ty Summers (ankle) has been ruled out, CB Cor’Dale Flott (groin) is doubtful, and CB Tre Hawkins III is questionable for the Week 8 game.
