The Giants are signing veteran OT Chris Hubbard off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and adding him to their active roster, head coach Brian Daboll said on Friday.
New York has an obvious need for additional depth up front with star OT Andrew Thomas set to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing foot surgery this week.
While Hubbard didn’t see any game action with the 49ers after signing onto their practice squad this offseason, he has plenty of NFL experience under his belt.
The 6-foot-4 offensive lineman spent the first four seasons of his pro career with the Steelers after signing with them as an undrafted free agent, logging 14 starts over that span.
Hubbard also appeared in nine playoff games during his time in Pittsburgh.
He went on to sign with the Cleveland Browns and he landed there for five seasons before joining the Tennessee Titans — appearing in nine games with them last year.
