Gjovik places 12th in state tournament

STATE COLLEGE — In day two of the two-day tournament at the PIAA Boys Golf Championships, Mason Gjovik of Saegertown finished 12th in Class 2A. Luke Ferry and Patrick Mahoney of Meadville finished 41st and 53rd, respectively, in Class 3A.

On the Blue Course, Gjovik shot 36 on the front nine and 35 on the back nine to card a 71, 1-under par. Gjovik finished with a total score of 147.

On the White Course, Ferry shot 41 on the front nine, and rallied with a 35 on the back nine, to finish with a 76. Mahoney carded a 76 as well. He shot a 39 on the front and a 37 on the back.

Today Ryder Bailey, Mason Allio, Tyler Cherpak, Everett Gardner and Gjovik will represent Saegertown to compete in the Class 2A team championships on the Blue Course.
