Golf tournament to celebrate Dr. Anthony Parker set for October 8

ALBANY- The River Pointe Golf Club will be the place to be as the Dr. Anthony O. Parker Annual Golf Tournament tees off on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. This tournament honors the memory of Dr. Anthony O. Parker, the late president of Albany Technical College. The Albany Tech Foundation event not only offers premier golfing but also celebrates Dr. Parker’s profound impact on the college and community.

Michelle Williams, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Albany Technical College, expressed her anticipation for the event, stating: “Dr. Parker’s dedication to Albany Technical College and the entire Albany community is incomparable. His passion for education and student success continues to inspire us. Through this tournament, we’re not just celebrating golf but preserving the legacy of a leader who transformed lives.”

About the Golf Tournament & Reception

The three-person scramble golf tournament will take place on October 8, 2024, with registration opening at 11:30 AM and a shotgun start at 12:30 PM. There will be one winning team, and prizes will also be awarded for “Closest to the Pin on Hole 5” and “Longest Drive on Hole 2.”

The President’s Golf Reception will kick off the festivities on October 7, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at The Flint, located at 112 Pine Ave, Albany, GA 31701. Please note, a ticket is required to attend the reception. This event is reserved for golfers, hole sponsors, and those who contributed at various levels, ensuring an intimate gathering for those supporting the legacy of Dr. Parker.

Proceeds from the tournament will assist Albany Technical College students with scholarships, ensuring that Dr. Parker’s legacy of education and community uplift continues for future generations.
