Great Falls High golf’s Hanna Boyd takes Billings Invite for second tourney win

Date:

BILLINGS – Great Falls High golfer Hanna Boyd has now earned medalist honors twice in as many weeks of the young season.

The senior shot a five-over-par 148 over two rounds at Peter Yegen and Lake Hills golf courses on Monday and Tuesday to claim first at the Billings Invitational.

A two-time All-State performer who has finished sixth the past two seasons at the state meet, Boyd fired a 72 on Monday at Yegen Golf Course before a 76 at Lake Hills on Tuesday to claim her second tournament victory following a win in Great Falls last week to start the season.

Boyd was the only golfer to break into the 70s over both rounds as she finished 14 strokes ahead of Payton Tryan of Billings Senior and Jordan Nielsen of Billings Central, who both tied for second at 162.

Quincey Weymouth was the top finisher for the C.M. Russell High girls as she tied for 13th with a 174 over 36 holes, while Danica Lewis was 27th at 190.

Ayden Platt was the top performer for the CMR boys as he shot 155 (74-81) to tie for 12th, while Jack Pinski was right behind at 156 to tie for 16th.

Eric Bell tied for 31st with a 164 for the Great Falls High boys, followed by Landon Donnelly in 34th (165).

Caleb Fornshell of Class A Billings Central was the medalist on the boys’ side at 138 as he started the tourney with a 65 on Monday.

Billings Senior and Bozeman Gallatin tied for first in the girls’ team race as the Bison and Rustlers finished seventh and eighth, respectively. The Laurel boys were team tourney champs while CMR was 6th and Great Falls High 11th.
