Groft cruises to Mid-Amateur title

Oct. 3—Candia Oaks’ Harvin Groft fired a final-round 2-under-par 69 and rolled to the NHGA Mid-Amateur Championship title on Thursday at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield.

Groft, the second-round leader, finished with a three-round total of 206, eight strokes better than runner-up Paul Torri (214) of Sky Meadow. Torri fired rounds of 80, 63 and 71 — the 63 on Wednesday tying the course record.

Laconia Country Club’s Jim Cilley, NHGA e-Club’s Pat Pelletier and Lake Sunapee CC’s Rob Henley all finished at 216 to tie for third place.

First-round leader Jamie Ferullo of Rochester CC and Jeffrey Barnes of Pease Golf Course finished at 217.
