An illustrated guide to encourage young people get involved in wheelchair basketball has been launched by lecturers at two universities.
The Wheelchair Basketball Journey highlights three aspects people with disabilities may encounter as they develop in the sport.
It has been produced by Dr Lesley Sharpe, Lecturer in Sports Sociology at the University of Lincoln along with Prof Vicky Tolfrey and Dr Janine Coates from Loughborough University.
Dr Sharpe, who provided the artwork, said it was an attempt to make their research findings more accessible to young people.
“We wanted to create a novel social media focussed project that could use our collective findings to represent, promote and signpost disabled young people to connect with wheelchair basketball opportunities,” Dr Sharpe said.
They have been designed to be shared across social media.
The project has been funded by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and supported by British Wheelchair Basketball.
