Here are the Appleton area qualifiers at the WIAA state girls tennis tournament

The 54th WIAA girls individual state tennis tournament will be held Thursday through Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Play will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, resume at 9 a.m. Friday and then 8:30 a.m. Saturday in both divisions.

Tickets are $9 plus online fees per day for adults and students. Tickets are available at wiaawiorg.

Here are the players who have qualified from the Appleton area.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Julia Gurholt, sr., Kimberly (24-5)

Gurholt earned the No. 7 seed in Division 1 singles and has a bye in the first round, although with defending champion Karlie Schock of Bay Port opting not to play, Gurholt is in effect the No. 6 seed.

Gurholt is making her fourth trip to state, all in singles, and earned the berth with a third-place finish at the Notre Dame sectional at No. 1 singles. She advanced to the state quarterfinals last season after winning one match as a sophomore and one match as a freshman.

She won the Fox Valley Association No. 1 singles championship this season for the third consecutive year. She finished the conference season with a 144-1 record in games played against FVA opponents and is 34-0 overall in the last three seasons against FVA opponents.

Meredith Werner, sr., and Sydney Michalkiewicz, fr., Neenah (26-5)

The duo from Neenah have the No. 7 seed in Division 1 doubles and earned a bye in the first round. Both are making their first trip to state. They took first place at No. 1 doubles at the Oshkosh West sectional.

Vivie Auth, fr., and Adel Schneider, jr., St. Mary Catholic (27-0)

The undefeated duo for the Zephyrs is the No. 1 seed in Division 2 doubles after taking first place at No. 1 doubles at the Kohler sectional. They have a bye in the first round.

Schneider advanced to state in singles in each of the last two seasons. She won one match as a freshman and lost in the first round last year.

Olivia Gaskill, jr., and Sabrina Janda, jr., Appleton North (14-6); Kate Jannette, jr., and Mariel Pante, jr., Xavier (23-5); Sarah McCarthy, sr., and Addylin Vieth, sr., Kimberly (17-10); Ava Motto, jr., and Rebekah Thomas, so., Neenah (28-3); Grace Ogden, sr., and Gabby Stammer, sr., Xavier (24-4).

Division 2 singles

Kate Johnston, sr., New London (7-14); Audrey Wanless, sr., St. Mary Catholic (7-3).

Division 2 doubles

Emily Vogel, sr., and Nadia Alexander, so., St. Mary Catholic (24-3).
