The Telangana Global AI Summit showcased various AI-based solutions from start-ups and students. Innovations included AI-powered drones for waste removal, building inspections, and surveillance systems.

Be it for surveillance or development, start-ups and students displayed a host of Al-based solutions on Day-1 of Telangana Global AI Summit. While some of these solutions are still at the concept stage, others on display are already available in the market.

Musi Riverfront Development

Name of Innovation/start-up: Musi Riverfront Development.
Innovators: Final year civil engineering students from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology.
Problem: To clean Musi River & develop it into tourism hub.
Solution: The students proposed Al-powered drones for waste removal and monitoring. Similarly, they suggested deploying sensors for monitoring water quality and flood mitigation.
We can also use Al for urban planning. To turn it into a hub, we devised several social, environmental and economic proposals. Viewpoints, Al generator park, floating platforms, and night bazaars among others can be established near the Musi,” said Meghana Manne, one of the students, adding that they are taking part in the summit to show that Musi development can be carried out more effectively using Al and seek suggestions to develop their idea.

Ajnhawk

Name of Innovation/startup: Ajnhawk
Innovators: Prayushi Mathur and Kajal Sanklecha
Problem: To inspect buildings, railway tracks, STPs & solar panels to identify issues and maintain them without physical visits.
Solution: Incubated at WeHub, the start-up has decided to use Al-powered drones for inspecting buildings or STPs. It has already taken up a few projects in the city on a trial basis and managed to identify problems cracks, water stains, and loose cladding with 97% accuracy.
We have no competition in this sector as of now as no one is using drones to inspect buildings or STPs. This is our USP. We even inspected bridges and railway tracks using drones for line marking,” said Mathur. She added that their services are provided for as low as Rs 5 per sq metre. They use different types of cameras for defect detection and can inspect a building both from inside and outside.

HC Robotics

Name of Innovation/start-up: HC Robotics
Innovators: Venkat Chundi
Problem: To keep surveillance on a person, vehicle, or any other object in a crowded place.
Solution: The firm has created various Al models to keep track of an object or person. Its solutions are even being used by defence organisations, including the Indian Air Force.
Not just the Al models, we even manufactured cameras for surveillance systems. Using our camera, even small objects of about 5 mm size can be tracked. Similarly, using our Al models, an aircraft can be tracked from a 5 km distance accurately,” said G Bharat Teja, Al Engineer, HC Robotics. The tactical tower, made using carbon fibre or titanium with a 4k camera mounted on it, can be used as a long-range mobile surveillance system in border areas, he added.

Bharat Smart Services

Name of Innovation/startup: Bharat Smart Services
Innovators: Sikinder Reddy Thandra
Problem: To estimate electricity consumption of appliances or electric meters at home or office; make billing process more accurate & efficient.
Solution: The firm has come up with an app that can turn a normal electric metre into a smart metre. An individual can click and upload metre reading to know how much his/her electricity bill is going to be. They have also come up with an Al-powered smart plug that can be connected to any appliance to monitor and control remotely.
By using our smart plug, an individual can exactly know how much energy an appliance is consuming,” said Reddy, adding that a user will be able to do a complete audit of energy consumption and reduce energy wastage by using their Al-powered Biili auditor.
