Much of Iowa saw scattered rainfall Monday, but it’s not the only precipitation the state could see this week. Portions of Iowa could see snowflakes by mid-week.
Some areas of the state had more than an inch and a half of precipitation from Monday into early Tuesday. High winds are expected to hit Iowa on Tuesday and Wednesday with a possibility of snow in north and northeastern Iowa.

How much rain did Des Moines get?
Des Moines saw consistent rainfall throughout Monday. In total, the state capital had 0.5 inches of rain. Ankeny reported 0.38 inches.
No rain is predicted for the rest of the week in Des Moines.
Ames had slightly more rain, with a total of 0.74 inches.

The heaviest rain fell in northwest Iowa on Monday. Here are the areas of Iowa that saw the most rain from 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Iowa State Mesonet.
Eastern Iowa saw some of the lowest rainfall totals with just a trace reported in Iowa City and 0.36 inches in Cedar Rapids.
What does the rest of the week’s forecast look like?
Des Moines is expected to have a mostly clear week with high winds.
Tuesday will have a high of 53 degrees with winds ranging from 10 to 17 mph.
High winds will carry into Wednesday with gusts up to 20 mph and a high of 42 degrees.
