King University men’s basketball head coach Jason Gillespie has hired Scot Hundt to join his staff as an Assistant Basketball Coach.
Hundt, a native of Punta Gorda, Fla., most recently was an assistant coach and Director of Operations for the Loras College (Iowa) men’s basketball team. Among his responsibilities at Loras was managing travel arrangements, breaking down film and creating scouting reports, and strength and conditioning.
“We are excited that Coach Hundt has decided to join our coaching staff,” Gillespie said. “He played for me during my time at Reinhardt University and also has NCAA II playing experience at Mississippi College. Last year, he was an assistant for a very good NCAA III program at Loras College.
“I have no doubt he will be a great help to Coach McDonald and myself. He has the mindset that is required to be an effective coach and I am extremely confident that he will be a positive addition not only to our basketball staff, but to King as well.”
Hundt played collegiately at Reinhardt University, where he played under Coach Gillespie. After spending three years at Reinhardt, Hundt transferred to Mississippi College, playing for three years, including two as a captain.
“I am really excited to be joining the King basketball program,” Hundt said. “I am looking forward to coaching with Coach G after playing for him in college. We have a great group of guys and I can’t wait to see how this season goes!”
Hundt has also worked basketball camps, including the Nike Elite camps in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Hundt also worked for Atlanta Events Specialists, working with the PGA Tour and TopGolf. He earned his bachelor’s degree in May 2019 from Mississippi College, with a degree in Kinesiology.
