Skies over St Petersburg turned purple on Wednesday, October 9, as Hurricane Milton hit the Florida coast.
Footage recorded by Anne Marie Gell shows a bright purple sky.
The phenomenon was observed as far away as Marathon in the Florida Keys and Miami,.
Wired said that purple skies were a natural phenomenon that could be strengthened by hurricanes blowing dust, vapor, and debris into the air. Credit: Anne Marie Gell via Storyful
