Inaugural 247Sports women’s basketball rankings: Aaliyah Chavez headlines Top 75 for 2025

Date:

The inaugural 247Sports women’s high school basketball rankings for the class of 2025 has been in the works for over a year. This rankings release by 247Sports is another step to lead the market in women’s basketball scouting, recruiting and evaluations, adding another element to the fast-growing sport across the high school and college ranks. Now, after spending the spring and summer at events across the country and evaluating the nation’s elite prospects, we finally have our first look at the 2025 class rankings.

2025 Women’s High School Basketball Rankings

For this rankings release, the 247Sports team decided to highlight the top 75 players in the 2025 classes. This resulted in multiple storylines that helped shape our historic, first women’s high school basketball rankings release, which we are beyond proud to bring to the table.

Chavez Wins The Battle for No. 1

Going into the summer, Aaliyah Chavez held a slight edge as the best player in high school basketball with Sienna Betts and Jasmine Davidson trailing behind her closely. And over the summer, all three of them made a strong case for the top spot.

Chavez, who hails from Lubbock, Texas, is an elite perimeter scorer whose game resembles a younger version of WNBA star Kelsey Mitchell. Simply put: Chavez can get a basket whenever she needs to. In fact, her dominance led the Cy Fair Elite team to a Nike Nationals championship victory.

Betts has emerged as one of the best players in the 2025 class and the cycle’s top frontcourt prospect. Already committed to UCLA, Betts has the build to play through contact to go along with the soft touch needed to make threes. As a result, she was extremely impactful as a member of Hardwood Elite on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.

Davidson’s rise to the top of the class has been built on her blend of guard skills and frontcourt length and activity. While playing for her Cal Stars club, she played point guard, ran the wing and made plays at the rim. Her versatility will be a separator at the collegiate level.

However, as we head into the school season, Chavez’s complete body of work awarded her the No. 1 spot in the class, for now, with Betts (No. 2) and Davidson (No. 3) following her. Chavez has a top four of Texas, LSU, Tennessee and USC, in no order

Makeer and Crump Eye a National Championship

Agot Makeer (No. 4) and Aaliyah Crump (No. 5) hit the rankings right behind the top three of Chavez, Betts and Davidson. Both Makeer and Crump have transferred to Montverde Academy in Florida where they will team up in hopes of winning a national championship. However, the road to the title won’t be easy. Makeer, Crump and Montverde Academy will have to beat out several powerhouse programs — including IMG, Long Island Lutheran and DME Academy — if they want to be crowned as national champions.

For Makeer, she’ll spend a season playing with a roster full of athletes who can space the floor and give her plenty of room to create a shot. Crump, the future Texas Longhorn, will be a recipient of Makeer’s kickout passes which will turn into easy buckets for her. Makeer is currently uncommitted.

Civil and Deal Turn Heads

There are always prospects during the rankings process who are valued more by one outlet than they might be by others. For the 247Sports rankings release, that’s the case for Jaida Civil (No. 13) and Addie Deal (No. 9).

Civil, who is uncommitted, put the country on notice with her play in July. In a key matchup against Team Lex 3SSB, Civil made several big time plays to keep her East Coast United club in the game. Currently, she’s handling the basketball at the point guard spot, but her long-term position might be on the wing. Civil’s athleticism and feel for the game is uncanny which earned her placement inside the top 15.

On the other coast, Deal got it rolling during the summer. She did whatever is needed on the perimeter for Cal Stars. Deal, who has already committed to Iowa, rebounds the basketball like a big and defends well. She showed off these skills this summer while averaging close to 20 points per game and shooting 36% from the three-point line.

Oklahoma Shines

The Sooner State shined during this rankings release. There are seven prospects from Oklahoma inside the top 75 (N0. 42 Brandie Harrod, No. 36 Avery Hjelmstad, No. 38 Marcayla Johnson, No. 34 Keziah Lofton, No. 35 McKenzie Mathurin, No. 17 Keeley Parks and No. 37 Janiyah Williams). An eighth prospect, Sania Richardson, landed just outside of the top 75, but has already committed to SMU.

Award Season Awaits

As the high school season approaches, the top 75 prospects will be in contention for the various in-season and postseason awards. The competition to be named a Naismith All-American as well as a McDonald’s All-American will undoubtedly be a tight one. The McDonald’s rosters are usually posted towards the end of January while the Naismith Awards are given out in the spring.

Being ranked inside the top 18 of the 247Sports rankings is usually a good sign that you’ll be in contention for one of these highly-coveted awards. However, a lot of changes can happen between now and when these awards are given out, adding even more weight to the eventual updates to our 2025 class rankings.
