Tuomaala, 21, was selected by the Flyers as the 46th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-10 forward played in his first full campaign with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season, posting 15 goals and 43 points in 69 games. Overall, it was a solid first AHL season for the Oulu, Finland native, and he is already building off it in 2024-25.
Tuomaala is off to a strong start with the Phantoms, as he had a goal and an assist in his first game of the new season. With the promising youngster looking to improve his standing in the Flyers’ prospect pool, it is certainly encouraging that he started the campaign on the right foot. Now, his goal from here will be to keep it up.
Tuomaala has the tools to be a key offensive contributor for the Phantoms. A big year would help his case for a recall from the Flyers during this season. We will need to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
