Italy Euro 2020 winner explains why he’s ‘happy’ Osimhen joined Galatasaray

Lorenzo Insigne, an EURO 2020 winner with Italy’s national team, is ‘surprised’ that Victor Osimhen joined Galatasaray from Napoli, but he’s happy he reunited with Dries Mertens.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan in September after collapsed transfer talks with Al-Ahli, Chelsea and PSG.

“I didn’t expect it. Victor is smart, and I am sure he made his own choices,” Insigne told Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian winger played with Osimhen at Napoli and is happy his friend joined another ex-Napoli star in Turkey.

“I don’t know what happened with Napoli, but I’m happy for him, especially because he’ll play with Mertens. I can see that they have fun together,” concluded Insigne.

During the same interview, Insigne spoke about a possible return to Europe from Toronto FC and Antonio Conte’s appointment as Napoli head coach.
