Jayden Daniels closing in on RG3’s NFL record for rushing yards by a rookie QB

Date:

In 2012, Washington rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III ran for 815 yards, the most in NFL history for a rookie quarterback. This year, another Washington rookie quarterback is threatening to break that record.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has 737 rushing yards this season, surpassing Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson today and moving into second place in NFL history on the rookie quarterback rushing yards list.

Daniels needs 79 rushing yards in Washington’s final two games to break Griffin’s record. Daniels is averaging 49 rushing yards per game, so if he keeps up his current pace, he’ll break the record in Week 18.

Daniels likely wrapped up the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award with his tremendous performance today. He’s one of the best rookie quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen.
