Jayden Daniels sets record for most rushing yards by a rookie QB in NFL history

Date:

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has the most rushing yards by a rookie quarterback in NFL history.

Daniels broke the old mark of 815 set by former Commanders quarterback Robert Griffin III in 2012. Griffin played 15 games his rookie season. Daniels is playing his 16th.

Daniels’ 7-yard run with 9:21 remaining gave him 820 for the season.

He has 10 carries for 85 yards tonight, leading the Commanders in rushing.

The Commanders have scored a third time in the second half, with Zane Gonzalez kicking a 31-yard field goal with 4:32 left. They lead 24-17 after trailing 17-7 at halftime.

Washington scored a touchdown on their third drive of the half, but Sam Cosmi was called for holding negating Daniels’ 2-yard touchdown throw to Olamide Zaccheaus. Zaccheaus had the team’s first touchdown on a 7-yard reception.
