Juventus vs PSV Eindhoven: Preview, predictions and lineups

Juventus kick off their return to the Champions League by hosting Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday evening.

Thiago Motta‘s reign as Juventus coach got off to a bright start with successive 3-0 Serie A victories, but back-to-back goalless draws since show that there’s still plenty of work to be done in Turin.

The Old Lady haven’t won a European trophy since the turn of the century and may harbour slim hopes of upsetting the odds in this year’s competition.

Heading into the Champions League off the back claiming a record number of points in an Eredivisie season, PSV have been handed a challenging start to their journey in this year’s expanded competition.

However, they are unbeaten across 90 minutes since late March and have scored 20 goals in five victories at the start of 2024/25.

Here is 90min’s guide to Juventus vs PSV.

Location: Turin, Italy
Stadium: Allianz Stadium
Date: Tuesday 17 September
Kick-off Time: 17:45 BST / 12:45 ET / 09:45 PT
Referee: Alejandro Jose Hernandez Hernandez (SPA)

This is the first competitive fixture between Juventus and PSV.

Juventus have a relatively clean bill of health for their clash with PSV midweek, although Francisco Conceicao is guaranteed to be absent with a muscle injury. Striker Arkadiusz Milik is also a doubt having missed the weekend draw with Empoli.

Motta is likely to field a similar lineup to the one that could only secure a point on Saturday, although some rotation may be required to keep the squad fresh for PSV’s visit. Timothy Weah could replace Nicolas Gonzalez and Michele Di Gregorio could replace Mattia Perin in goal.

Juventus vs PSV Eindhoven score prediction

After a bright start to the season, Juventus have stumbled to successive goalless draws. Their issues breaking down opposition in recent matches should be helped this Tuesday by Peter Bosz’s and PSV’s particularly attacking style.

PSV have been in blistering form again this season and will have no inferiority complex heading to Turin. They have won all five of their Eredivisie games at a canter this season and will be eager to take advantage of a Juventus side in transition.
