‘Keep sports separate from politics’ – Moin Khan urges former India players to convince BCCI to ‘honour ICC commitments’ | Sporting News India

Date:

Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Moin Khan has urged his Indian counterparts to request Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to let the Indian team travel to Pakistan. The BCCI are yet to give their go-ahead for their boys to visit Pakistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Amid the political fragilities between the two nations, BCCI has not allowed India to visit Pakistan for over a decade. The last time India played in Pakistan was in 2008, for the 50-over Asia Cup.

As per reports, the BCCI could propose to the ICC, a hybrid model of hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Most recently, they pledged the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to agree to the hybrid model during the Asia Cup 2023.

The newly-elected ICC chairman, Jay Shah, is also the current secretary of the BCCI. There are reports that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Mohsin Naqvi is already in talks with the to-be ICC chief over the hosting of the ICC CT 2025.

Meanwhile, 52-year-old Moin Khan has also given an open warning to India’s apex cricketing body, should they not send the Indian team to Pakistan for the upcoming ICC event.
