Kentucky Women’s Basketball beats No. 18 Louisville in overtime

Date:

The No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats have scored their first signature win of the Kenny Brooks era, a 71-61 victory over the No. 18 Louisville Cardinals in overtime at Memorial Coliseum. It was the Cats’ first win over their in-state rival since December of 2015.

After both teams played to a 58-all tie in regulation, Kentucky was able to pull away in the extra frame after outscoring the Cards 13-3.

All-American point guard Georgia Amoore finished with a game-high 19 points, followed by Teonni Key (17), Dazia Lawrence (14), Clara Strack (12), and Amelia Hassett (nine). Kentucky’s starting five accounted for all 71 points.

Hassett dominated the boards with 13 rebounds, followed by nine from Strack. Key chipped in a game-high five blocks.

Now 4-0 with their first top-25 win, look for the Cats to make a big jump in the next round of college basketball rankings.

Safe to say it’s been a magical week in the Bluegrass after the men took down No. 6 Duke for the first signature win over the Mark Pope era.

Go CATS!!
