The NHL’s Los Angeles Kings announced on Wednesday that their home game against the Calgary Flames scheduled for Wednesday night would be postponed due to the wildfires in LA County.

“Tonight’s game against Calgary has been postponed,” the Kings statement reads. “Our hearts are with the entire Los Angeles community. We appreciate the hard-working first responders who are diligently working to contain the fire and protect our community.

“We appreciate the league’s support in keeping our fans, staff and players safe.”

The statement did not address a potential make-up date.

Fueled by high Santa Ana winds, multiple wildfires have threatened communities around Los Angeles. As of Wednesday afternoon, the fires had claimed two lives and burned more than 1,000 structures around the city. For full coverage of the fires, read here.

The fires have also threatened to impact sporting events scheduled to be hosted in the city in addition to the Flames-Kings game that was postponed. The Lakers are scheduled to start a four-game home stand on Thursday against the Charlotte Hornets. They share Crypto.com Arena with the Kings as their home arena.

The Clippers are scheduled to return from a road trip to host the Hornets on Saturday at their new arena in Inglewood. The Rams are scheduled to host the Vikings on Monday night for a playoff game in Inglewood.

Those games remained on schedule as of Wednesday afternoon, but their status is subject to change depending on the trajectory of the wildfires.
