Expressing his opinion on the comparison between the two batting giants, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria said Kohli and Babar can never be compared.
Babar Azam vs Virat Kohli – a comparison that keeps igniting debates among fans and experts time and again. Both have their own statures. While Virat Kohli is a modern-era great and has proved his brilliance across formats, Babar is believed to flourish as a Pakistan legend. However, the latter is currently under the pump for his flop innings in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh.
Expressing his opinion on the comparison between the two batting giants, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria said Kohli and Babar can never be compared. Speaking to Sports Tak, Kaneria highlighted that Kohli’s achievements can easily outshine Babar.
“Who is comparing them? I am tired of hearing that people compare them. When you’re talking about comparing, look at the runs Virat has scored. He has scored runs all around the world. He is a massive player,” Kaneria commented.
The former cricketer further mentioned that Kohli’s presence on the field creates an impact which Babar lacks. Kaneria felt that media has played a major role in fueling the comparison between the two batters.
“Look at his stature, when he walks onto the field, his aura itself is different and he (Babar) does not come close, forget comparing them. All that is created by the channels to sell their product. I have had a lot of questions comparing them, but I have never done it. Look at the stats. When both of them retire, do take a look at the stats,” he added.
Babar’s Flop Show in Bangladesh Tests
The former Pakistan Test captain has been facing flak for his poor show in the ongoing Bangladesh Tests at home. He scored a duck in the first innings of the opening game in Rawalpindi followed by a laboured 22 off 50 balls.
In the second Test, Babar could manage just 33 runs off 77 balls which included a couple of boundaries. Pakistan posted 274 after half-centuries by captain Shan Masood and opener Saim Ayub.
