Kortrijk set to welcome Cardiff City defender back on loan for a second spell

According to Wales Online reporter Glen Williams, Kortrijk are set to welcome back Ryotaro Tsunoda on loan from Cardiff City for the rest of the season. The 25-year-old Japanese defender has been injured recently and the sides head coach confirmed they were looking to send him out on loan during the window. Given the links with Vincent Tan and Tsunoda’s performances in helping Kortrijk remain in the Pro League last season, it is of little surprise to see the player making a return.

Tsunoda joined Cardiff from Yokohama F Marinos last January and was immediately loaned out to their sister club Kortrijk. He played nine games at the back end of the season as Kortrijk narrowly escaped relegation via the relegation play-offs. Unfortunately, it was during that loan spell that he picked up a hamstring injury that has meant the defender is yet to make an appearance for the Welsh side.

Kortrijk could really do with some business in January that improves the squad, given they are currently at real risk of relegation once again.
