Lens will completely overhaul their goalkeeping department as Brice Samba (30) completes a €15m winter transfer window move to Ligue 1 rivals Rennes. According to Le Parisien, the France international goalkeeper, currently Milan’s Mike Maignan’s understudy, won’t be the only one making the switch from Lens to Rennes as the Artois side’s goalkeeping coach Hervé Sekli will seemingly accompany the former Nottingham Forest goalie and occupy the same post at Rennes.
Sekli’s move from Lens to Rennes was reportedly one of the sticking points that stalled Samba’s transfer. The France international goalkeeper has already agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Les Rouge et Noir. Samba has undertaken a medical this Tuesday.
Lens’ loan signing of Pau Lopez from Marseille paved the way for Samba’s €15m deal reaching its completion. Le Parisien understands that Samba will link up tomorrow with Jorge Sampaoli’s squad. Rennes are expected to complete the necessary paperwork to authorize Samba to feature against Marseille this Saturday.
