FINDLAY — The 2024 boys golf postseason is officially underway.
On Wednesday, the Division I sectional golf tournament was held at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Findlay.
The Lexington Minutemen took second as a team nabbing one of the five team qualifying spots in the process with a 336 team score. Jackson Durchik led Lex with a solid 37-37-74 while Nathan Dawson added a 42-42-84, Griffin Hughes had a 38-50-88, Daulton Mangas carded a 47-43-90 and Bailey Carmichael rounded out the scores with a 44-48-92.
The Madison Rams may have missed out on a team qualifying spot taking sixth with a 344, but sophomore Josh Maglott nabbed the first of five individual qualifying spots with a great day of 42-36-78. Liam Stone and Nick Maglott carded matchings 46-41-87s while Landon Goad added a 43-49-92 and Lincoln Shepherd had a 48-49-97.
Ashland took the fifth and the final team qualifying spot with a 343 finishing one stroke ahead of Madison. Reed Emmons shot a fine round of 39-39-78 while Ryan Eberling added a 41-42-83, Landon Dreibelbis had a 44-45-89, Ty Bates carded a 45-48-93 and Ty Ellis rounded out the scores with a 46-50-96.
Findlay won the Division I sectional team championship with 321 while Tiffin Columbian took third with a 336 and Lima Shawnee took fourth with a 340.
The Division I district golf tournament will be held on Oct. 4 at Shawnee Country Club in Lima. Only one team and one individual with the lowest score not on the winning team will advance to the state tournament.
