Liverpool, Arsenal ‘greatly fancy’ untouchable Barcelona phenom – report

Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal is one of the best young players in the globe currently and is the face of the team for his club and the Spanish national team.

The 17-year-old phenom’s explosion already saw him attract a monstrous €250 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain, which Barça president Joan Laporta confirmed to have rejected.

Now, reports in England suggest that there are a few clubs in the Premier League also have taken interest in the Spanish wonderkid.

Arsenal, Liverpool ‘fancy’ Yamal

Indeed, according to Miguel Delaney of the Independent, both Arsenal and Liverpool ‘greatly fancy’ the signing of Yamal from FC Barcelona even though such a move seems ‘highly improbable at the moment’.

Liverpool are sweating over the future of star forward Mohamed Salah, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Even if there is a renewal, the Reds would need a long-term replacement, which is why they might have cast their eyes towards Yamal.

Arsenal’s interest in the 17-year-old comes off as a bit puzzling, though, considering that Bukayo Saka has locked the right-wing position down for himself.

Either way, the possibility of Barcelona selling their most prized asset is next to impossible.

The young gem has a contract with the Catalans until 2026 and there is already a pact to further extend it until 2030 when he turns 18 years old.

The team is being built around a young core with Yamal as the face and as such the Blaugrana see him as untouchable, having already knocked back a mammoth €250 million offer.

Yamal, for his part, has already made it clear that he wishes to spend his entire career at Barcelona and be remembered as a club legend.

“I would like to be remembered in Barça’s history as a legend. Thanks to Barcelona, I am who I am. They’ve given me everything,” said Yamal in an interview earlier this week.

So while Liverpool and Arsenal may have some interest in Yamal, there is simply no way a transfer is going to materialise, with the player and the club both very happy.
