Gravenberch shines in Netherlands clash

Ryan Gravenberch delivered another impressive performance in the Netherlands‘ clash against Germany. The Liverpool midfielder had had an exceptional start to the season for both club and country.

Gravenberch registered a sublime assist for Tijjani Reijnders inside two minutes before Denis Undav equalised for the visitors and then Joshua Kimmich put them ahead at half time before Denzel Dumfries clawed back a point in the second half.

Gravenberch is playing with tremendous confidence right now, and the former Bayern Munich midfielder gave fans another glimpse of his exceptional passing ability. Just after the 20 minute mark the 22-year-old sent a sublime half-volley pass right into the path of his teammate who ran through on goal but failed to beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo also featured for the full 90 minutes, both having quiet games.

Salah on fire for Egypt

Despite Egypt’s comfortable 3-0 win over Cape Verde in their previous fixture, Mohamed Salah was left frustrated as for the first time since January, the Liverpool winger didn’t register a goal contribution, after scoring six goals and providing four assists in his previous seven appearances for his country.

He struggled to find his rhythm due to being deployed in an unusual role. Instead of his usual position on the right wing, he was often seen dropping deeper, playing more as an attacking midfielder than in his familiar forward role.

However, Salah was on fire scoring a sensational goal in Egypt’s 4-0 win against Botswana. Salah met a fine cross from centre-back Mahmoud Hamdy with a cool finish to grab their third goal.

Trent assists centurion Kane

Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered an exceptional pass to provide the assist for Harry Kane’s first goal in England’s 2-0 win over Finland, to mark the captain’s 100th appearance in style.

The Liverpool right-back has enjoyed an impressive international break, delivering standout performances for Lee Carsley’s side after a difficult Euros. His passing range and ability to dictate the tempo were on full display, contributing significantly to England’s attacking play.

His precision in delivering long balls and set pieces created several goal-scoring opportunities again during the fixture at Wembley receiving praise from both pundits and commentators.

Wataru Endo played a key role in Japan’s dominant 5-0 victory over Bahrain, helping his team maintain control in midfield throughout the match.

Japan dominated the game from start to finish, although they struggled at the beginning, they soon took control of the ball and generated a number of dangerous plays.

The Liverpool midfielder’s energy, defensive awareness, and ability to distribute the ball effectively were crucial in Japan’s commanding performance.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Kostas Tsimikas came head to head in Ireland and Greece’s Nations League clash. Tsimikas will be the happier of the two after his side secured a 2-0 win in Dublin.

It is now four competitive defeats in a row for Ireland at home for the first time ever, while Heimir Hallgrímsson continues to search for his first victory as Ireland boss.

Hallgrimsson said he was targeting this game and it has ended in a defeat – his second on the bounce since taking the job. There were some audible boos around Aviva Stadium, and the Icelandic coach knows he has a job on his hands with games to come next month.

Dominik Szoboszlai was a standout performer in Hungary’s 0-0 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina, creating the most chances for his team throughout the match, Hungary were unable to find that crucial goal.

The Liverpool midfielder showcased his playmaking ability, consistently unlocking the opposition’s defence. Despite Hungary being unable to find the back of the net, Szoboszlai’s vision and creativity were evident as he orchestrated much of their attacking play.

Hungary pushed for a breakthrough but ultimately had to settle for a hard-fought draw.
