Liverpool teammates in extraordinary full-timeSHOWDOWN as tempers flare

International breaks are often bemoaned by fans for a lack of exciting football, with drab games featuring tired players just passing the time until they return to club action where the ‘real’ football happens.

That’s not the case in South America.

International games in South America often have the potential to spark into something, as players fight for every ball in hostile atmospheres.

Darwin Nunez is no stranger to these kinds of situations. During this summer’s Copa America, the Liverpool striker was handed a five match ban for his role in a melee with Colombian fans after the final whistle.

Moments after Uruguay’s semi-final defeat, multiple Uruguay players – including Nunez – went into the stands to confront Colombian fans who had begun brawling in close proximity to the players’ families. Nunez was seen fighting with fans and appeared to throw a chair into the stands as well.

That was the last time the two sides faced off, until this week, when controversy reared its head at the full time whistle once again.
