Lubbock can officially boast that it has the #1 Best Independent Coffee Shop, according to the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
Monomyth was the only Texas location to be nominated among 20 independently-owned shops across the U.S. The Lubbock favorite found itself competing against places in major cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles and Indianapolis.
When voting opened in September, Monomyth told fans they wanted to go for the gold. After nearly a month of voting, it did.
On Wednesday the 10Best team announced the winners:
-
Monomyth Coffee, 2024 Broadway, in Lubbock.
-
ThreeBirds Coffee House in Easton, Pennsylvania.
-
Evans Brothers Coffee in Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint, Idaho.
-
Onyx Coffee Lab in Arkansas.
-
Tinker Coffee Co. in Indianapolis, Indiana.
-
Alchemist Coffee Project in Los Angeles, California.
-
Jersey Java & Tea Co. in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
-
Goosecup in Leesburg, Virginia.
-
Thunder Coffee in Fargo, North Dakota.
-
Big Shoulders Coffee in Chicago, Illinois.
“Order a seasonal single-origin coffee brewed on a Moccamaster, a cappuccino, a matcha latte, or a cold brew cola at Monomyth Coffee in Lubbock, Texas,” the 10Best team said. “Pair your coffee with a locally-baked pastry or a bacon onion quiche, and enjoy the friendly baristas and comfortable space, too.”
This isn’t the first time Monomyth’s offerings were noted as a must-try. Last year, the shop became the A-J review team’s #1 pick for fall-inspired drinks.
