The Giants have nothing but draft position at stake in the final two weeks of the regular season, but wide receiver Malik Nabers has a shot at setting the rookie receptions record.
Nabers’s bid to pass Puka Nacua’s mark and outdo Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers’s own run could be hindered by a toe injury. The Giants listed Nabers as a non-participant in practice on Wednesday.
Nacua had 105 catches last season. Nabers has 97 and Bowers has 101 heading into Week 17.
It’s an estimation as the Giants aren’t practicing, so Thursday’s report may be more telling about his outlook for Sunday’s game against the Colts.
Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy is also listed as a non-participant. He has an ankle injury.
Defensive lineman Cory Durden (shoulder), defensive back Raheem Layne (knee), linebacker Micah McFadden (neck), center John Michael Schmitz (ankle), and defensive back Greg Stroman (shoulder, shin) are the other players listed as out. Safety Dane Belton (knee), offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor (wrist), quarterback Drew Lock (right shoulder), cornerback Dru Phillips (knee), defensive lineman Jordon Riley (knee), and defensive lineman Armon Watts (shoulder) are listed as limited participants.
