Man arrested after pulling gun on kids who refused to play basketball with him

Authorities say a man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after allegedly threatening kids with a gun for refusing to play basketball with him.

The incident happened on Oct. 12, at a basketball court located near the 6900 block of Lonesome Woods Trail.

Deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to reports of an aggravated assault.

According to deputies, Benjamin Walls approached a group of kids playing basketball and asked to join their game. When they declined, Walls allegedly pulled out a handgun and made verbal threats toward both the children and their guardians.

Deputies later located Walls at his residence and took him into custody. He was transported to the Harris County Jail and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“Benjamin Walls was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His total bond was set at $80,000 out of the 482nd District Court,” Herman said in a statement.
