Manager pinpoints ‘haunted’ training ground for dismal run 👻

Date:

Under-pressure managers often look for answers to their problems when the chips are down but Ian Holloway may have thrown up a new one.

His Swindon Town side sit just a point outside the League Two relegation places after a five-game winless run while captain Ollie Clarke is facing a spell on the sidelines.

The Robins’ skipper ruptured a tendon in his ankle last week during a training session and his manager believes that there is an explanation for their rotten luck.

“I’m absolutely devastated so I’m going to try and cleanse the training ground area because people are telling me it’s haunted,” Holloway told BBC Radio Wiltshire.

“There’s a graveyard somewhere near. Honestly, I’m not joking.

“I think our training ground is very close to an ancient burial site so I’m going to get my wife to come up and say sorry to all these people and hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck.”

Swindon are not the only club to experience paranormal forces as Birmingham City struggled in the 1993/94 season were pinpointed to their St Andrew’s home being supposedly plagued by a curse.

Then boss Barry Fry allegedly tried to lift the 100-year hex by marking his territory, to put it politely, in all four corners of the stadium.

Unfortunately it didn’t pay off in the long term as the Blues were relegated that season.

Holloway insists he won’t be going down that route anytime soon but desperate times may call for desperate measures!
