With the international break in the rearview, Manchester City returns to Premier League action this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side will face Brentford at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday. Ahead of Saturday’s match, the champions look to have received a boost ahead of what could be a tough game for the world champions.
In images shared via the official Manchester City X account, Phil Foden looks set to return this weekend. The PFA Men’s Footballer of the Year was pictured training in welcome news for the world champions. Foden missed City’s 3-1 win over West Ham due to illness. His illness also forced him to withdraw from the England squad for their matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland. But it now appears that Foden should be ready to return to the Manchester City squad for this weekend’s clash with Brentford.
There also appeared to be more good news for the champions from training yesterday. Rodri was pictured training as he continues to build his fitness after a delayed start to the season. Brazilian winger Savinho was also seen training after missing City’s win over West Ham with a knee injury. Both players look set to take their places in Pep Guardiola’s squad this weekend. That is a welcome boost for the champions given the hectic schedule that lies in wait for Manchester City in the coming weeks.
Based on the update from City’s training session yesterday only Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake look to be unavailable for Saturday’s match against Brentford. That is welcome news for the world champions ahead of another big game against Brentford on Saturday.
