They also picked a crucial 2-nil victory over Tottenham in the Premier League late last season. A Erling Haaland brace and a stunning Stefan Ortega save helped City pick up a crucial victory. That win was vital in City’s successful chase for a record breaking fourth consecutive Premier League titles.

It will be interesting to see what lineup Pep Guardiola will use when City face Tottenham. Speaking after his team’s win over Watford Guardiola told the media that he would use young players and the players who need minutes in the competition. He said: “The next round, I announce to you, I will play the second team. We are not going to waste energy, for sure. The schedule is the schedule, we cannot handle it anyway.“
