Manchester United confirm Ruud van Nistelrooy departure

Date:

Manchester United have confirmed that Ruud Van Nistelrooy will be leaving the club after a successful spell in interim charge.

The Manchester United legend stepped up in the wake of Erik ten Haag’s departure, and guided the Red Devils to three wins and a draw from his four games in charge, most recently helping them beat Leicester City 3-0.

However, he has vacated his post to allow new coach Ruben Amorim to bring his own staff to Old Trafford, while Van Nistelrooy still harbours managerial aspirations of his own.

“Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach. Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford. Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future”, an official statement read.

There is as of yet no word on his replacement at Old Trafford.
