In recent weeks, there has been plenty of talk surrounding Alphonso Davies. The 23-year-old left-back is expected to leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires at the end of the season, and at this stage, the two leading clubs in the race for his signature are Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Los Blancos have been following Davies for some time, and they tried to secure his services during the summer. On that occasion, they deemed Bayern’s asking price to be too high, which is why they have been content to wait in order to sign him as a free agent. However, Man United – as they did with Leny Yoro – will look to complicate matters.
Despite this, reports in England (via CaughtOffside) say that Man United are expected to miss out on signing Davies, who prefers to join Real Madrid in the case of him leaving Bayern next summer.
There could be some trouble with Davies’ signing, but if that can be overcome, Real Madrid are surely hot favourites to sign the Canadian defender. If they do, he’d be an outstanding pickup.
