Max Taps Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie & More for Unrivaled Basketball Coverage | Cord Cutters News

Date:

TNT Sports and the upstart women’s basketball league Unrivaled have unveiled the full list of personalities, reporters, and analysts that will be covering the league’s inaugural season; streaming live on Max, in addition to linear networks, TNT and truTV.

Studio coverage for the 3-on-3 league will be led by three-time WNBA Champion and two-time league MVP Candace Parker, former WNBA All-Star Renee Montgomery, and host Lauren Jbarra. Four-time Olympic gold medalist and WNBA legend Lisa Leslie will make special appearances throughout the season. The studio show will be held live from TNT Studios in Atlanta and the talent will recap and preview games and give viewers their expert analysis.

“The additions of Candace, Renee, Lauren, and Leslie will jumpstart our exciting coverage with some of the best and biggest talent in the sport” said Craig Barry, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, TNT Sports. “Their transcendent knowledge of the game and scope of experience are going to bring this new league to life in important and unexpected ways.”

Leslie will also serve on the commentary team as an analyst, joining co-analyst Sarah Kustok and play-by-play announcer Brendan Glasheen. All games will be played live in Miami and covered by a rotation of reporters, including Taylor Rooks, Allie LaForce, Stephanie Ready, and Ros Gold-Onwude.

“We’re thrilled to tip off our inaugural season with such legendary talent across all levels of the women’s basketball space,” said Micky Lawler, Unrivaled’s Commissioner. “Their voices will bring much-needed analysis and perspective to the revolutionary version of basketball Unrivaled and TNT are bringing to fans this year.”

On Friday, January 17, the inaugural Unrivaled season will tipoff live on Max with Napheesa Collier and the Lunar Owls Basketball Club taking on Breanna Stewart and the Mist Basketball Club at 7 p.m. ET, followed by Angel Reese and the Rose Basketball Club facing Arike Ogunbowale and the Vinyl Basketball Club coached by Teresa Weatherspoon at 8 p.m. ET. truTV and TNT will also air each game on opening night.

Everything We Know About Unrivaled

Unrivaled is expected to have a fast pace as the 70 ft x 50 ft court will be smaller than a WNBA court. The 3-on-3 league will consist of four seven-minute quarters played on a full court with two ends. The 36-woman league will have six players on each team:

2025 Unrivaled Teams

  • Laces BC
  • Lunar Owls BC
  • Mist BC
  • Phantoms BC
  • Rose BC
  • Vinyl BC

Players are expected to make a salary of $250,000, which is more than a maximum WNBA contract. This will make it the highest average salary in all of women’s sports. Plus, the league will determine the best 1v1 player in the world during a single-elimination tournament in February. The winner of that midseason tournament will walk away with a minimum of $250,000.

Micky Lawler will serve as Unrivaled’s first commissioner and Ally is the first founding brand partner with a league-wide jersey sponsorship, signage, and other marketing. As a player-owned league, Unrivaled will provide training facilities, childcare, and more benefits at its 850-capacity arena in Miami. The league may take games on the road in the future and explore franchising opportunities.
